Are you ready to enter the interpreting program?
Check yourself against this list:
- ASLI 1010 with a grade of B or better (A pass on the ASL 1010 challenge test or the ASL Level One Skill Certificate from high school will also be accepted.)
- ASLI 1020 at SLCC with a grade of B or better, or pass the ASL 1020 challenge test.
- 40 or higher on the Arithmetic Portion of the CPT test or 15 or higher on the Math portion of the ACT. (Lower scores require completion of Math 0900 or with a C or better.)
- 81 or higher on the Reading Portion of the CPT test or 20 or higher on the Reading portion of the ACT. (Lower scores require completion of Writing 0990 with a C or better.)
- Ready to make new friends, work hard, and have a great experience for the next two years!
These are new admission requirements and apply to all students who are new to SLCC Fall Semester 2009 and beyond.
To apply:
- Complete application to enter the interpreting program and attach transcripts showing all grades for ASL classes.
- Turn in the application, transcripts and test scores to the department secretary in AD 145 (grades must be posted for 1010 and 1020 on the transcript.)
- A letter will be mailed to you regarding you acceptance at which time you can register for the interpreting classes for Fall or Spring semester: ASLI 1200, 1300, 1220 & lab, 2010 & lab.
NOTE: All students who meet the prerequisites will be admitted to the program. However, class sizes are limited so apply early!
