T' AA HAAII'DOO YEEGO HA' GOOLNIIGO

"The spirit within to succeed"

The American Indian Student Leadership (AISL) Club presents a series of events for T' AA HAAII'DOO YEEGO HA' GOOLNIIGO.

On Thursday, April 10, there will be a Symposium on the "Ceremonial Use of Tobacco" from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Arvol Looking Horse from the Lakota tribe in Eagle Butte, South Dakota and Ruben Saufkie from the Hopi tribe in Second Mesa Arizona will be presenting. Before the Symposium, there will be an Indian Taco Sale from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on the East Patio of the Student Center at Redwood Campus.

On Friday, April 11, the film "Lady Warriors" will be screnned at 1:30 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. at TB 203 at Redwood Campus. Milfred Tewawina, a Hopi from Moencopi will be the guest speaker at these screenings.

On Saturday, April 12 there will be a one-mile Spiritual Walk/Run and traditional 5K race. Nino Reyos will conduct the opening ceremony for these events will begin at 6:50 a.m. at the Amphitheater on Redwood Campus. A Lakota Pipe Ceremony will take place following the opening ceremony. Before the one-mile spiritual walk/run, a Hopi blessing will be performed.

The traditional 5K race will begin at 8:30 a.m.

To conclude the events, the film "Hopi Run for Water" will be shown at 10:30 a.m. in the Student Event Center at Redwood Campus. Ruben Saufkie will provide remarks as the guest speaker for this film.
