Faculty/Staff Toolkit

Career Services at Salt Lake Community College is here to support you and your students. Below are ways in which we can support you:

We understand that coming in to our office is not feasible for all students. Our website and career management system, College Central Network (CCN) has career resources for students ranging from job and internship opportunities both on and off campus, a career video library, career assessments like Focus 2 Career, and resources to help them with all their career needs. Checking out CCN is a great first step in feeling confident towards ones' educational path.

We would love you to encourage or require your students to attend our Career Fairs or education programs for extra credit or a class assignment.  Let us know what event you select in advance, and we will let you know who attends. Other possible career education assignments include resume critiques and practice interviews.

Our Peer Mentors are here to support students with their career development needs. Have your students stop by our Career Studio for career mentorship and guidance. We dedicated this space for students and created a relaxing feel where students can express their concerns or ask questions about their career development needs. Our Career Studio is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Our Peer Mentors can help students with resume and cover letter reviews, interview prep, internship/job search and with career assessments like Focus 2 Career.

We know your students are busy and might not have time to relax in our Career Studio. Encourage your student to book ahead using MySuccess in MySLCC under the Advising tab. Booking in advance allows your students to have dedicated time with a Career Coach over their area of study.

If you are unable to teach a class session, a member of our career team would be happy to either present one of our workshops or create a tailored presentation for your students.

We have various resources like a free professional clothing closet, an internship program at SLCC that pays $12.00 an hour, as well as a work for credit option. Make sure to check out our student resources page for more information or email Careerservices@slcc.edu.

As you're planning your syllabi, or planning for the upcoming year, remember that Career Coaches are available to make classroom and department presentations to your students and team members. Please try to give at least two weeks’ notice as calendars fill up fast. To request a presentation, fill out the form below and we will get back to you within 48 hours. Below are some options for Career Workshops and Presentations. Please note, we are more than happy to create customizes presentations for your department and student needs.
