Salt Lake Community College received emergency student aid via the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). This aid was available to eligible students to pay for education-related expenses. As of November 1, 2022, all HEERF aid has been distributed to students. There will be no additional HEERF aid awarded.

Students taking for-credit classes were eligible for the grant, and eligibility was not dependent upon citizenship status. Students include U.S. citizens, permanent residents, international students, refugees, asylum seekers, DACA recipients, and other DREAMers.

Students taking Salt Lake Technical College classes were also eligible for the grant, but those taking Workforce courses and certificates were not eligible to receive HEERF funds. With that said, Learn and Work and other programs may have been available to support students taking non-credit courses at SLCC. Learn more about Learn and Work, or contact your program advisor with questions.

Qualifying students who were also Pell eligible received $350, and qualifying students who were not Pell eligible received $200.
Students signed up for direct deposit automatically received the funds in their designated bank account. Those who were not signed up for direct deposit received a check in the mail to the address on file with the college.
  1. Made sure you met registration deadlines for Fall and were taking traditional for-credit or Salt Lake Technical College classes.
  2. Filed a 2022-23 FAFSA to determine if you were PELL eligible. SLCC's School Code is 005220.
  3. Ensured your direct deposit or refund preferences are current in MYSLCC.
Eligible students taking classes during the Fall semester, either for the full term or half term, received the grant during that semester. Funds were distributed the third week of Fall semester for qualifying students enrolled for the full term. Those registered for an 8-week course during the second term received their funds during that term at a date yet to be determined.
