CARES Act Information

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) signed and returned the Certification and Agreement and provided assurances to the US Federal Department of Education that the institution intends to use at least 50% of the CARES Act funds for emergency grants to students on April 10, 2020.

Salt Lake Community College received a noticed of award from the US Department of Education on April 22, 2020 in the amount of $5,323,937 for 84.425e Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students and Economic Relief to IHE's under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.*

The estimated number of student eligible to participate in this emergency grant program under section 484 of the Higher Education Act as of April 7, 2021 is 12,043.

Students who are eligible for CARES funding must meet all eligibility requirements in Section 4844. Students are invited to complete the application posted on the SLCC website. They must report expenses that they have incurred due to the disruption of campus activities due to the pandemic and how much they need to meet those expenses – not to exceed $1,500.

In addition, a set sum of $300 is to be awarded to all students who meet the eligibility requirements for Title IV aid and were attending classes during the Spring 2020, Summer 2020, and Fall 2020 terms. These funds are to help defray the cost of moving from campus courses remote/on-line classes.
