Graduation vs. Commencement: What’s the difference?

Graduation is a step-by-step process leading up to the receiving of your official degree. If you haven’t applied for graduation yet, please contact the SLCC Graduation Office at 801-957-4035, or stop by the office at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus, Student Center Building, room 270C.

Commencement refers to the ceremony, officiated by the President of Salt Lake Community College, which is an opportunity for the students to share the excitement and importance of their academic accomplishments with peers, family and friends.


Eligibility

All degree candidates for May 2019 Commencement and person who received degrees or certificates Fall 2018, Spring 2019 and Summer 2019 are eligible to participate in Salt Lake Community College’s 2019 Commencement held at the Maverik Center.

For any questions please contact the Graduation Office at 801.957.4035 or stop by the office at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus at the Academic and Administration Building – Room 335 from 8:30 AM – 4:30 AM, Monday through Friday.


STUDENT RSVP TO COMMENCEMENT

Students who want to participate at the Commencement Ceremony must electronically RSVP by May 2, 2019 to walk at the ceremony.

 

Congratulations, graduates!

The faculty, staff and administrators of Salt Lake Community College look forward to welcoming you and your guests to Commencement 2019 on May 3. Graduates are asked to arrive at 8:30 a.m. to line up for the processional. The Academic processional will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the Commencement Ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will run approximately two hours.
