Commencement Ceremony

ADA Accommodations and Accessibility

The Maverik Center, site of the ceremony, is wheel chair accessible from the South parking lot through the Main / VIP Entrance. The drop-off area is located in front of the building near the Main Entrance.

The Maverik Center recognizes the needs of guests with disabilities, as defined by the American Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. Maverik Center continues to make every effort to comply with state and federal accessibility regulations and accommodate guests with disabilities.

Due to safety regulations, all aisles in the arena must be kept clear of children, strollers, wheelchairs and all other obstacles during the ceremony.

Interpreters, open-captioning services and special seating will be available for hard of hearing guests and students. For these and other ADA accommodations, please contact Jim Fenton at 801-957-4854.

Flowers and Balloons

For your convenience, the SLCC Bookstore will be selling fresh flowers and SLCC Gear at the Maverik Center on the club level concourse. All guests are asked to refrain from bringing balloons into the Maverik Center due to your balloon bouquet potentially disrupting or blocking the view of guests seated behind and around you. Please do not celebrate with confetti or streamers at the arena.

GradImages will provide our professional commencement photography services. They will take a still photograph of each graduate with their diploma cover before they walk across the stage, and an action photo as they cross the stage. All graduate images will be posted on the GradImages web site. Proofs will be mailed 1 - 2 weeks after the Commencement ceremony. Additionally, proofs will be sent to the email address provided by the graduate on the reader card. There is no obligation to purchase.

For everyone’s safety and convenience, graduates must remain at their seats, before and after being called to the stage, for the duration of the program. Graduates may take photographs from their seats. Graduates and event guests may not move about the arena floor, the stage or backstage to take photographs, nor should graduates take photographs during the procession or while walking across the stage.

Guests are permitted to bring cameras and recording devices to the SLCC Commencement Ceremony. Though under no circumstances may photography interfere with aisles or other guests' enjoyment of the event.

Free commemorative Commencement programs will be distributed inside the arena concourse for guests, and inside the arena on the chairs designated for Graduates. The program will include those names of graduates who have applied for graduation prior to the March 31, 2015 deadline. The program is not an official list of graduates, but a celebration of great accomplishment.

Graduates are asked to check the Graduation List by March 31 to ensure their name is spelled correctly, that they are listed under the correct degree or certificate, and area of study (major).

Food, Smoking and Alcohol

Guests may not bring food and/or beverage items into the arena during events. Diamond Creations Catering and Concessions exclusively provides all food and beverage at the Maverik Center. There will be a concessions area open during the SLCC Commencement event.

Smoking is strictly prohibited inside Maverik Center. Alcohol will not be allowed or sold at this event.

Child Care

Graduates are encouraged to make child care arrangements well in advance as children will not be allowed to sit with the graduate or wander the arena without supervision during the ceremony.

Lost and Found

At the Maverik Center, the Lost and Found is located in the Security Office. Please contact a member of Guest Services during an event and they will assist you in reaching the Security Office.

The first aid station is located at the northeast corner of the main concourse, behind section 104. For an emergency, please contact a member of guest services or security.
