| Do you think I have the best job in the world? I spend my days watching and reading and thinking about, and teaching about, television, newspapers, magazines, movies, web sites -- and also thinking and teaching about dominant and alternative media, and a free press as the mainstay of our nation. Can today’s consolidated market media system truly well serve our democracy, as the Founding Fathers envisioned? I wonder. I also work as the Director of Globe Student Media and as the faculty adviser of “The Globe,” the SLCC award-winning student-published newspaper. When not on campus, I produce local radio and can be heard on-air each week. I also take late night walks in the north hills of Salt Lake City. In the classroom, I believe in constructivist pedagogy; I want you to build on the mass media knowledge you already have. You all probably watch TV and have an iPod and maybe hit an online news site every day. I want my classes to build on what you already know. Please visit my instructional web site and learn more about what I teach and what I do; you’ll find my complete vita, syllabi for my courses, and more: http://coursedocs.slcc.edu/comm/nburns Do I have the best job in the world?
