| I took my first communication class at Salt Lake Community College and loved it so much that I changed my major to Communication. I graduated with honors from Salt Lake Community College earning my Associate’s degree in 1992. I transferred to the University of Utah and graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication in 1995 and Master’s degree in Interpersonal Communication in 1999. The focus of my research in graduate school was marriage and family relationships. I started teaching Communication courses at the University of Utah as a graduate student and continued teaching there for 5 years. I have been teaching as an Adjunct Instructor for Salt Lake Community College since 1999 and started teaching as a full-time faculty member in 2007. I love teaching and working with the students at Salt Lake Community College and can’t imagine a job that would be anymore fulfilling and worthwhile. I believe that exceptional learning experiences include classroom participation. Consequently, I use discussion based lectures that promote student involvement. I also provide learning activities that reinforce the theories and make them more meaningful for students. My goal is to challenge students and push them beyond their intellectual habits, while at the same time providing an interactive and fun classroom experience. I enjoy running and have finished three marathons over the past few years. I also enjoy biking, swimming, snow-skiing, water-skiing, and boating. I love to travel and have had some wonderful adventures all over the world. Some of those include: scuba diving with sharks in Tahiti, participating in a road-rally in Monte Carlo, windsurfing in Puerto Rico and racing a sailboat in St. Martin. My absolute favorite thing to do is spending time with my family. Back to Faculty List |
