Construction Management and Sustainable Building
What is the Building Construction Program at SLCC?
Students receive actual hands-on experience in "green" (or sustainable) building construction. You will receive theoretical and hands-on training in erecting footings, foundations, concrete, framing carpentry, finish carpentry, cabinetmaking, construction management and more. Workplace skills such as human relations, oral communications, critical thinking, teamwork and written communications are also addressed. You will learn marketable skills for quicker job advancement within the construction industry.
The Building Construction/Construction Management program has been tailored to give students a range of options and offers a variety of degree choices.
Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree
This program is dedicated to teaching sustainable construction methods that address the green building and energy conservation demands of today. It is designed to provide students with a practical hands-on experience in the areasof building construction, interior finishes and cabinet making, along with project management and business management courses. Upon completion students should be prepared to take the business law and trade examinations for state licensure. Students will be prepared for various trade certifications as well.
Associate of Science (AS) Degree
This program is designed to teach construction management and sustainable building methods that address the green building and energy conservation demands of today. It is designed to allow students to transfer to various construction management related programs. The program provides student with an in-depth educational experience inconstruction management coursework. It is a building block toward a BS degree in Construction Management or related fields.
Certificate of Completion
This program is dedicated to teaching sustainable construction methods that address the green building and energy conservation demands of today. It is designed to provide students with a practical hands-on experience in the areasof building construction and interior finishes. It is designed to be a building block toward the Construction Management and Sustainable Building AAS degree.
