The traditions of American Contra and English Country dance are 400 years old. These dances are easy to learn and popular with complete beginners (such as weddings), but allow for individual embellishments, polish, style, and flourish. It has a nation-wide (and international) near cult following, and can be found in any major city. It is a sociable, healthy, hobby that can be shared with a wide range of ages; as young as 5, to those well in their 80's. It promotes confidence within and between sexes, and engenders positive philosophies for interacting with others on and off the dance floor.
The course covers the fundamentals of Contra and English Country Dancing including the history, music, steps and forms. The course is designed to promote fun, movement and encourages lifelong health and wellness.
