Event & Meeting Planner

This certificate program is designed for new and aspiring meeting and event professionals as well as those seeking a career change. Meeting and Event Planning is a multi-billion dollar industry. Organizations are becoming increasingly concerned about getting a higher return on investment. Employers recognize the need for an educated and skilled workforce. Students completing all nine online courses will be awarded a certificate upon completion. Students may also enroll in individual courses to increase their skills and knowledge in areas of specific interest. 

EACH COURSE IS 8  WEEKS LONG AND IS OFFERED TWICE IN A SEMESTER. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION WHEN REGISTERING!! THE EVENT COURSES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR FINANCIAL AID.

FAQs

Generally speaking, event planners make special events happen for such occasions as:
• Celebrations (fairs, parades, weddings, reunions, birthdays, anniversaries)
• Education (conferences, meetings, graduations)
• Promotions (product launches, political rallies, fashion shows)
• Commemorations (memorials, civic events)

  • Conducting research
  • Creating an event design
  • Finding a site
  • Arranging for food, decor and entertainment
  • Planning transportation to and from the event
  • Sending invitations to attendees
  • Arranging any necessary accommodations for attendees
  • Coordinating the activities of event personnel
  • Supervising at the site
  • Conducting evaluations of the event

A certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete all nine courses with a grade 80% or better. Students must contact the Program Manager to request their certificate.

Tuition is based on the total credit hours a student takes. See tuition rate schedule.
Each course is offered at the beginning of the semester and also mid semester.  The event courses are  taught in an 8 week block.
Drop rates for a full refund follow the academic calendar deadlines.  However, if the drop date is after the deadline, the program coordinator will approve or deny any appeal. Please note, there is a $65.00 per course, non-refundable fee (no exceptions).
All students enrolled in the Event and Meeting Planner courses will receive a welcome email from the instructor through their MyPage bruinmail account the first week of class.  The letter will contain the website URL, username and password needed to gain course access.  The Event and Meeting Planner courses are not accessed through Canvas.
