Vehicle Safety Program

Partnering with Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) Division of Public Safety, this programs trains individuals to conduct vehicle inspections for both Light-duty or Heavy-duty vehicles.

  • Light duty vehicles are Passenger Vehicles and Light Duty Trucks up to 26,000 GVWR
  • Heavy duty vehicles are Tractor, Trailer or Bus with 26,000 or above GVWR
UHP Requirements to become an inspector:
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have a valid Utah Driver’s License, or an out of state license approved by the department.
  • Take 16 hours of approved training.
  • Pass the final exam with a score of 80% or better.
  • Present to UHP your Instructor validated application obtained upon successful completion of training and a non-refundable $7.00 processing fee.
