Aircraft Dispatcher Courses graphic

Students who successfully complete the program requirements with a grade of 70% or better will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement. These students are also eligible to take the FAA written and practical exams. 

Prerequisites may be required.  It is the student's responsibility to examine each course description for details of prerequisite classes.  Those prerequisites must be satisfied before the designated class may be taken.

Financial Aid is available for PILT 1400 & PILT 2050.

DISP 1010 Regs, A/C Systems & Procedures
DISP 1100 Navigation & Planning
DISP 1200 Weather, Analysis & Forecasts
DISP 1300 Dispatch Applications
PILT 1400 Intro to Air Traffic Control
PILT 2050 Aviation Meteorology
PILT 2150 ATP Written Exam Prep (Elective)

DISP 1010  Regs, A/C Systems & Procedures, 3 CR, A
This course includes FAR Part 1, 25, 61, 65, 71, 91, 119, 121, 139, 175, & NTSB 830, aircraft flight & general operating manuals, aircraft performance & systems, operating specs for aircraft type, and emergency/abnormal procedures.

DISP 1100  Navigation & Planning, 2 CR, A
Prerequisite: DISP 1200

Course will include study of the following: earth, chart reading application/use, national airspace plan, navigation systems, airborne navigation instruments, instrument approach procedures & special navigation/operations.

DISP 1200  Weather, Analysis & Forecasts, 1 CR, A
This course will include surface observation, terminal forecasts, significant en route reports/forecasts, observed prognostic weather charts, imagery, meteorological information, data analysis & outlets providing aviation weather product.

DISP 1300  Dispatch Applications, 2 CR, A
Prerequisite: DISP 1010, 1100, 1200, PILT 1400, 2050

This course will include human factors in aviation, applied dispatching, flight departure, in-flight operational control, post-flight, communication, voice & data communication, NOTAMS and aeronautical publications.

PILT 1400  Intro to Air Traffic Control, 3 CR, A
This course overviews Air Traffic Control principles, rules, regulations, positions, responsibilities, terms & techniques. Pilots and perspective controllers will gain fundamental insight into the National Airspace System.

PILT 2050  Aviation Meteorology, 3 CR, A
This course covers atmospheric conditions and its effect on aeronautical applications.  Weather, developmental patterns, and observations from the pilot's perspective will be emphasized.

PILT 2150  ATP Written Exam Prep, 1 CR, A (Elective)
Course will overview theories and applications discussed in the 200 hours of dispatcher training.  Course is designed to prepare students to take the FAA exam for certification.
