WHAT IS EARLY ENROLLMENT?

Early Enrollment (EE) allows eligible high school juniors and seniors to attend Salt Lake Community College prior to high school graduation. EE provides these students the opportunity to take college level courses to supplement their high school curriculum. EE is designed for motivated students who have completed the highest level of course work offered by the high school (i.e. honors, A.P., concurrent enrollment courses) and wish to further their education in those areas. EE is not designed to substitute high school curriculum, it is designed to supplement it. Credits earned through EE may be applied toward both college and high school graduation. Students should work with their high school counselor for acceptance of college credits toward a high school diploma.

Students who are appproved and admitted for EE will pay regular tuition for the courses in which they enroll.  EE students will be admitted as non-degree seeking and will not be eligible for financial aid or scholarships through Salt Lake Community College until they (or their class) graduate from high school. 

Students who have graduated early from high school (within one month of the first day of the semester), received their G.E.D. or whose class has already graduated are not considered EE students and may follow regular admission procedures.

Please be aware that in some SLCC programs, there may be age minimums for taking licensure exams. For more information please contact the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing or the academic department.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Students must:

• Have completed their sophomore year (10th grade).
• Be currently enrolled in high school, OR registered as home schooled through the school district, OR officially withdrawn and released from Utah's compulsory age for education (18) through the school district.
• Demonstrate college level proficiency by placing in ENGL 1010 and MATH 1010 with the following test scores. Test scores must be current (less than one year old for Math, less than two years old for Reading).
      ACT: 20 or higher in Reading and 18 or higher in Math
      Accuplacer (CPT): 81 or higher in Reading and 54 or higher in Elementary Algebra
• Submit all required documents (see 'Required Documents Checklist') and meet with an EE advisor before the deadline.

DEADLINE

The EE deadline is two weeks before the semester/term begins. Students must meet with one of the Advisors listed under 'Staff'.  Students must  have all of their required documents submitted prior to the two week deadline. However, it is recommended for course availability that students submit all required documents (see student checklist) and meet with an advisor two to three months before the beginning of the semester.  Applications will not be accepted after the two week deadline, NO EXCEPTIONS! Late applications will be processed for the following semester/term.
