SLCC is an “open admission” institution, which means there are no minimum grades and test scores required for admission. We will help you develop the skills you need to get the education you want. All you need is the desire and determination to succeed. Whether you want to become a full-time student (12 or more credit hours) or just want to take a class or two, SLCC is the place for you!

Applying online is a quick and convenient way to begin your studies at SLCC. The College has partnered with Utah Mentor to streamline the application process and to offer additional services to students. As part of the online application process you will create a personalized Utah Mentor account. The account you create with Utah Mentor provides access to valuable resources such as scholarships, selecting a major and career planning.
PLEASE NOTE: The Utah Mentor username and password you will create as part of the online application process will be unique. Once you have been admitted to SLCC, you will receive a different username and password (PIN) to access other SLCC online services through the MyPage portal system.
Apply In Person
Admission applications are primarily done online, but if you prefer to apply in person you can visit the Student Express at the Redwood Campus Student Center, or request assistance at any of the following locations:
- Redwood Campus (4600 S Redwood Road, Salt Lake City; Enrollment Services on 2nd floor of Student Center)
- South City Campus (1575 S State Street, Salt Lake City)
- Jordan Campus (3491 W 9000 S, West Jordan)
- Sandy Center (830 East 9400 South, Sandy)
Once your application has been processed:
- You will receive an official acceptance letter by mail with information about how to get started with SLCC. Please allow two weeks for delivery.
- Your official acceptance letter will contain your SLCC Student Identification Number (also called “SID” or “S number”). You will use this number to access services at SLCC.
- Once you have received your official acceptance letter, you should immediately log into the MyPage system, a comprehensive secure website serving the needs of SLCC students, faculty and staff.
For more information call the SLCC Contact Center at (801) 957-4298.
All matriculated students are required to take a placement assessment called the Accuplacer (or submit ACT or SAT scores). This test helps determine your skill level in the areas of reading, English, and mathematics. You must complete placement assessment before registering for any classes. Visit an SLCC Assessment Center to take the Accuplacer Assessment. The Accuplacer Assessment is currently administered daily on a walk-in basis at Redwood, South City, and Jordan Campuses. Call the Assessment Center at (801) 957‐4269 for additional information.
Note: ACT or SAT scores less than two years old may also be used to meet the assessment requirement.
Transfer students with math or English credit from other colleges may be eligible for a waiver of all or part of the placement assessment requirements. If you are transferring to SLCC, please visit our website at www.slcc.edu/transcriptevaluation to learn how to have your prior credits evaluated (you may not need the placement assessment).
The Accuplacer placement assessment is also used for placement in Math and English coursework (ACT/SAT scores can also be used). Math scores are valid for one year and English scores are valid for two years for course placement. See other side for testing locations, hours, and more information about the Accuplacer Assessment. Allow two hours for testing.
All students should apply for financial aid. Many students are surprised to discover they are eligible for some type of financial assistance. Students should apply as early as possible for financial aid as the process can take several months to complete. The application process for financial aid can be started before applying for admission, but financial aid is only awarded to admitted students. See Financial Aid in the Things You Should Know section of this Catalog for aid options and application requirements.
Sign up for orientation by calling (801) 957-4073. This orientation will help you navigate the catalog and course schedule, select your classes, understand your registration options, and utilize campus services. Please bring a SLCC college catalog and a semester class schedule if available.
SLCC advisors provide interest and personality assessments for career choice, as well as interpret placement scores for mathematics and English classes. Advisors can also direct you to important resources on campus and in the community.
STEP 6. LOG-ON TO 'MYPAGE'
MyPage is a comprehensive website serving the needs of the SLCC community. MyPage is the easiest way to view the semester class schedule, register for classes, pay tuition and fees, as well as to learn about special services available to students. Through MyPage, each student is provided a MyPage email account for communication with the institution, faculty and staff.
Students are assigned a MyPage user name and password within 48 hours of application to the College. You will need your Student Identification Number (included in your official acceptance letter) to obtain your MyPage user name and password. Once you have this number, go to www.slcc.edu click on “Get My Username and Password” in the lower left-hand corner of the page. Enter the requested information and MyPage login information will be displayed.
