AUDIT AND CHALLENGING CLASSESAUDITING CLASSESStudents may audit most SLCC classes for the purpose of the learning opportunity it provides, according to the following conditions:
Students should declare their intent to audit a class at the time of registration and before the DROP deadline. Exceptions may be recommended by the appropriate administrative authority. To audit a class, you will need to fill out the Class Audit Form and submit it in person, or fax it to us at (801) 957-4961. For information about Senior Citizens auditing classes, please call us at (801) 957-4298. CANCELED CLASSESClass sections are sometimes canceled for lack of sufficient enrollment or for other administrative reasons. Division Offices will make reasonable attempts to notify students of such cancellations as quickly as possible. If you desire to replace a canceled class section with another class, please follow established procedures for adding classes. You will receive a full refund for classes canceled. Refund checks are processed 2 to 3 weeks after the last day to drop classes (See Academic Calendar) and sent to your mailing address. You may contact the Cashiers Office for additional information regarding refunds. CHALLENGING CLASSESIf you feel that your experience or previous knowledge would enable you to successfully challenge a course offered at SLCC, you may apply to take a challenge examination. Challenge examinations may be taken at any time during the semester at $25 per class challenged, payable before taking the examination. Challenge examinations are not available in all classes. DO NOT REGISTER for the class you plan to challenge. If you have previously taken the class at any time, you are ineligible to challenge it, regardless of whether you audited, failed, or received credit for it. For information about challenging classes, contact the Assessment Center at 957-4269 (Redwood Campus) or 957-3284 (South City Campus). Credits earned by challenge examinations do not contribute toward enrollment status for financial aid or veterans’ benefits. Upon successful completion of the examination and other specified requirements, the class will appear on your transcript with a P (Pass) grade and the designation “Credit by Exam.” Failed challenge examinations will not be recorded on your transcript. Credit earned by challenge examination is not counted as in-residence credit. CONFIRMATION OF CLASSESA confirmation of the classes you are enrolled for is available on-line MyPage. See Academic Calendar for tuition payment due dates. |
