Esthetics is an industry of appearance and image.  You determine the clients you want and the money you make by the way you present yourself.

What is the program about?

Basic esthetics instruction is part of the Barbering and Cosmetology curriculum.  Salt Lake Community College offers instruction in the areas of skin care, facials and facial massage techniques, makeup artistry, pedicures and waxing.

What will I learn?

  • Proper technique to perform basic manicures and pedicures.
  • Proper techniques and procedures of body waxing of the arm, underarm, bikini area, leg and face.
  • Basic anatomy for what is needed for proper techniques of esthetics procedures.
  • Beginning techniques of facials and facial massage.
  • Proper procedure of basic makeup application.
  • The proper technique and application of eyelash and brow tinting.
  • Basic sanitation, disinfecting and bacteriology.
  • Practice and hands-on experience in all of the above procedures.

What are the facilities like?

  • Students provide hands-on esthetics services and learn in a spa-like environment.
  • Esthetics services are available to the public.
The Master Esthetician program takes a student further into the field of esthetics.
A student must have a barbering/cosmetology license or basic esthetician license from the State of Utah.
Classes are held at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus in the Administration building.
