What do I do if a Student Fails a Class?

Please advise the students who are not performing well by midterm to contact an academic advisor to discuss options at that time or risk having a bad grade on their permanent college record.

If a student earns a failing grade (E), assign a failing grade on the college grading website. Last dates of attendance (LDA) must be submitted for students receiving a grade of "E" (failing).  If a student never attended the class, please submit the LDA as the first day of the semester.  Format: mm/dd/yyyy

To withdraw a student from a course after the published withdrawal date (See Academic Calendar), complete an "Appeal to Withdraw Form" and submit it to Enrollment Services. The form must contain signatures from the instructor and Associate Dean.

Early Academic Alert Notification (EAAN)

The Academic and Career Advising office monitors the Early Alert Notification. This systems' purpose is to connect students with support services necessary for academic success. Since the faculty sees the students' progress during the semester, it is natural to identify the students who appear to be having the most difficulty in class. We recommend that faculty first attempt to contact the student as you are the best resource to assist students. If there hasn't been a change in the student performance or if you feel that a contact from Advising would also be beneficial, please use the Early Academic Alert Notification.

How Do I Refer a Student?

It's easier than ever. The Early Academic Alert referral form is located within your MyPage account.
1) Log into MyPage
2) Click on the Faculty Tab
3) In the left column of the Faculty portal, select the link called "Early Alert".
4) Select the course from the drop down menu of courses you teach this term.
5) Select the class that has the student(s) whom you want to refer.
6) Select the "reasons" you are referring the student(s). (This information will not be on the student's record)
7) Select "Submit Referral" at the bottom.
8) Repeat the selection process for other students and classes.
