Helen HanceyHelen has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Utah, and a Masters degree in Education with emphasis in Clothing and Textiles from Brigham Young University. In addition to her many years of teaching in the public school system, Helen has taught beginning and intermediate sewing classes at BYU, and floral design classes in Continuing Education for Salt Lake Community College. She helped develop the curriculum used in the clothing/textile classes in the state of Utah.
Helen has served in leadership positions in the professional teachers associations, and developed the Granite District program of fashion institute to help high school students explore their interest in fashion. She has been awarded Outstanding Teacher of the Year in Family and Consumer Science for the state of Utah, received costume design awards for the 14 musicals she has worked on, and designed costumes for Hollywood movies -- two of which her name was listed in the credits.
