Satisfactory Academic ProgressThe Federal Government requires that Salt Lake Community College have a Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy. This policy must apply to all students whether or not they have received aid. Further, the policy must look at all periods of enrollment whether or not the student received aid during that period of enrollment. Summary PolicyIn summary the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy requires the following:
AppealsIf a student is determined to not be eligible for financial aid under this policy they have the right to appeal that determination. Any such appeal must be made in writing and submitted to the financial aid office. Appeals are reviewed by the Appeals Committee each Wednesday afternoon. Appeals must be submitted by 4:00 PM on Tuesday to be reviewed at the next Wednesday meeting. Appeals must address all terms in which the student did not meet the requirements of the policy. The student must provide supporting documentation of statements made in the appeal where applicable (i.e. doctors notes, letters from employers, etc.). Appeals which clearly demonstrate circumstances beyond the students control will have the best chance of approval. |
