Geoscience

Geoscience offers three exciting degree options

  • The website for the Environmental Geology AS degree is coming soon!
  • The Geography AS degree is a transfer degree offering a broad general education.  Students develop a geographic perspective of the world ranging from cultural and human influences on the planet, the physical environment, and how the human/environment interaction influences regions around the world.  Students are also introduced to the latest technology scientists are using today to understand our world!
  • The Geographic Information Science Technology (GIST) AAS degree address the technological areas of geography.  GIS is one of the fastest growing areas of geospatial technology.  With a brand new computer and the latest software in GIS and remote sensing, our AAS degree prepares students to enter the dynamic and exciting field of GIS and geospatial technology.  Currently the department is working on a GIS Certificate.

Finally, the college does not offer a degree in meteorology, but the Geoscience Department teaches an introductory course that is transferable to major universities.  The course covers topics such as the basic elements of weather, weather fronts, forecasting, severe weather, hurricanes, world climates, climate change and more!
