The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), a product of ATI, is used as part of the admissions process by the SLCC Nursing program.

There are four sections to the TEAS. They are:

  • Reading
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • English and Language Usage

The TEAS has 170 questions, 150 of which are scored. Candidates will have a time limit of 3 hours and 29 minutes. The sections must be completed in the order shown above. One 10-minute break is allowed after completion of the Mathematics section.

Create an ATI Account

You will be taking the TEAS online at the Health Science Assessment Center. Before you arrive to take the exam, you must create an ATI account. If you already have an account with ATI, do not create a new account but make sure you know your username and password.

If you have not previously created an account, go here to create one. Go to the tab called “Secure Sign On" and click on the link called “Create an account.” Note that your ATI account is different from your MySLCC account and the Health Science Pre-Admission test scheduler for which you may already have accounts. Also check any confirmation emails you receive from ATI, as they may change the username or password you initially provide.

Retake the TEAS

The Nursing program allows students to retake the TEAS twice to improve their exam scores. There is a mandatory two-week waiting period between attempts, in order to give students time to study and review the modules being retaken.

To retake the exam, login to the Test Scheduler. After you login, you will see your test history. Select a test from the top part of that page and pay the full testing fee.
