 Social Health
Social health encompasses a lot of things: communication, tolerance, service, activism, but when it comes right down to it, social health is all about good connections. Connecting to friends, peers, family and the community in ways that enrich your life and the lives of those around you. At Health and Wellness Services we promote healthy social connections by : - Sponsoring events that promote healthy lifestyles and encourage healthy social interactions.
- Providing workshops & presentations that teach about tolerance, ending violence, communication skills and prejudice reduction.
- Training the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) that serves the SLCC community providing caring listeners, social activists and healthy peer leaders.
- Working with the Emma Lou Thayne Community Service Center to provide Alternative Spring Break.
- Providing information on social issues like rape, domestic violence and homophobia.
