Client Information

Video production capability in Institutional Marketing & Communications exists as a means to craft institutional messages for targeted audiences such as legislators and government entities, donors and potential donors, business and community entities, public education and student populations.

Prioritization of projects serve the needs of the Office of the President, the Development Office, corporate and private partners of SLCC, donor- or grant-funded projects, and marketing-driven projects as deemed necessary by the Division of Institutional Advancement or by the Institutional Marketing & Communications department.

At times, Institutional Marketing & Communications Video Production can serve the marketing-related or presentational needs for other non-academic clients within SLCC. Academic clients needing media for instructional use are encouraged to contact Bill Bradford, Media Production Services at 957-4966.

Production Planning

Please contact John Morgan, Institutional Marketing & Communication Video Production, at 957-4677 to discuss production planning for your video project. Prioritization for your project will consider productions already in progress for other clients, the scope and impact of your project, length of effective use, distribution methods, benefit to the institution, production values and projected cost. Institutional Marketing & Communications Video Production now shoots and edits most productions in High-Definition format at 720p/24-frame progressive.

Production Workflow

Clients should be prepared to provide support for script writing, to help plan shooting locations and to provide on-camera personnel and interviews. Professional talent can be obtained at a cost of $950 per day per actor/actress (paid by client). When using professional talent, most SLCC productions can be shot in a single day with other interviews and b-roll shooting done separately. If you have student volunteers willing to appear in your production, you may elect to offer them compensation in the form of small gratuities.

A typical 10-minute production using paid talent can take up to 30 working days to complete. Tasks include script writing, visual storyboarding, planning and scheduling, actual shooting, voiceover audio editing, music selecting, video editing, graphics, titles and animation creation, final review, encoding to DVD and/or web streaming.

Production Costs

Institutional Marketing & Communications does not charge internal clients for production personnel or equipment usage; however college vehicle use costs, media costs (DVD/Blu-Ray archival), duplication costs and other costs will be passed to the client. Further, based on client good will, Institutional Marketing may seek client support to help us purchase needed video equipment or to defray amortization costs of existing equipment.
