Joy Kingston Creative Design Scholarship

Left to right: Nancy Corrales-Henrique, Paul Matthew Layne and Cherylene RosenvallThe Joy Kingston Creative Design Scholarship was established by the Joy Kingston Foundation in 2011 to honor the creative work of Joy Kingston, an award winning fashion designer who was known for her cutting edge creations for women. Against great odds, Ms. Kingston broke into the male-dominated fashion industry in the 1940s. She embraced diversity and believed that people should be true to their own personal values.

Two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded annually, $750 per student each semester. Funds may be used for tuition, books, fees and supplies. One scholarship will go to a student who has completed at least one semester in the SLCC Fashion Design program, and one scholarship will go to a student who has completed at least one semester in the SLCC Interior Design program. Applications are posted in the spring for the following fall semester.
