International Buddy Program

Adjusting to a new culture can be exciting and challenging. New international students at Salt Lake Community College often have a lot of questions and concerns before arriving to SLCC and during their first weeks on campus. To ease the transition, the International Buddy program connects current students with new international students. Program participants communicate via email or through Facebook to share information on the student experience at SLCC.

What can new students expect for participating in the International Buddy program?

  • Connect with a current SLCC student before arriving.
  • Receive insider tips regarding textbook purchases, class registration, housing options, on-campus employment, locating banks and grocery stores, and public transportation. Buddies can also offer cultural guidance, linguistic support, and information about life in Salt Lake City.

What can current students expect for participating in the International Buddy program?

  • Learn about different cultures and perspectives.
  • Increase knowledge of campus and community resources.
  • Gain new skills in cultural communication.

If you are a new international student and would like help settling into Salt Lake City, request a buddy here.

If you are a current SLCC student and would like to volunteer as a buddy, click here.

In order to ensure a smooth pairing for summer semester, please sign up for the buddy program before April 29th.
