Recommended Two-Year Degree Completion PlanThe following is a recommended sequencing of courses for completing a two-year transfer degree in music. Students are not required to follow this exact sequence. It is simply a recommendation that balances completion of general education classes with appropriate progress in required major classes to be able to complete an associates degree in music within a two-year period (beginning in fall semester). Some classes must be taken in sequence because of prerequisite (or co-requisite) requirements. For example, Theory I should be taken concurrently with Sight Singing/Ear Training I and before taking Theory II and Sight Singing/Ear Training II. Conspicuously missing from this plan is private instruction in the student's area of specialty. While not specified as a requirement to earn their associates degree, music students are strongly encouraged to take private lessons each of the four semesters if at all possible in addition to the schedule listed below. Most four-year degree programs will include a private instruction requirement. 1st Fall SemesterMUSC 0990 Recital Attendance (0 credits) Total = 15 credits 1st Spring SemesterMUSC 0990 Recital Attendance (0 credits) Total = 16 credits 2nd Fall SemesterMUSC 0990 Recital Attendance (0 credits) Total = 14-15 credits 2nd Spring SemesterMUSC 0990 Recital Attendance (0 credits) Total = 16 credits |
