New Student Orientation

Student Orientation

Orientation will guide you to begin at SLCC. You’ll learn how to register for classes, information about our facilities, campuses, and buildings, and available services and resources.

All first-time freshmen must complete orientation. That includes new students, former-concurrent students, and early-enrollment students.

Returning and transfer students do not have to complete orientation, but can register a week early for classes if they do complete orientation.

Orientation is offered at Taylorsville Redwood, South City, Jordan, and Miller campuses.

There are three types of orientation:

CampusConnect – This is the most helpful, comprehensive and preferred orientation. It’s designed for recent high school graduates and their families, as well as other first-time college students. Free half-day sessions are offered in June.

QuickConnect – This free, 90-minute, in-person orientation is offered mornings, afternoons, and evenings throughout the year. After the orientation, our staff is available to help you create your MySLCC and register for classes. However, you must already have met the Accuplacer test requirement to register for classes.

Register for QuickConnect

NetConnect – This free, hour-long, online session is for students who cannot attend orientation at one of our campuses, or for transfer students who already are familiar with college procedures but want a refresher. We strongly recommend that you attend a follow-up advising workshop after completing NetConnect. You must have a MySLCC to use NetConnect. After logging in to MySLCC, select NetConnect in the upper left.
