New Student Orientation

Orientations are Designed to Help You Connect!

The First Year Experience Department sponsors various New Student Orientation programs designed to introduce you to registration procedures, available resources, advising information and SLCC facilities. Our primary goal is to help you make connections at Salt Lake Community College.

To complete a new student orientation, please choose one of the following options:

CampusConnect Orientation

The CampusConnect Orientation is a half-day (4 to 6 hour), comprehensive introduction to campus life and culture. This orientation program is the one you need to attend, especially if this is your first time going to college. The CampusConnect includes everything you need to know to start and succeed in college. Family members are invited to come with you but there   is a limit of two guests per student. Includes a free gift!

QuickConnect Orientation

QuickConnect Orientations are 90 to 120 minute-long sessions offered mornings, afternoons, and evenings. All QuickConnect Orientations include a group advising session to help you plan your first semester of classes. You can choose to stay after orientation is over to receive help registering for classes.

NetConnect Orientation

  • Complete the NetConnect Orientation through your MyPage tab

The NetConnect Orientation is only an option for students who live at a far distance from SLCC or for transfer students who are already familiar with the college experience. After completing this orientation, students must wait at least 24 (business) hours to register for classes.

Note!

First-time, first-year students MUST complete a new student orientation before registering for classes, however, all new students are highly encouraged to complete an orientation before registering for courses. Early participation in orientation will allow for early class registration.

In order to register for classes, you MUST also take an Accuplacer test or submit ACT/SAT scores.

To find out when you can register for classes, see the academic calendar.
