President's Leadership Institute

The President’s Leadership Institute (PLI) gives faculty, staff and administrators the opportunity to learn more about themselves, their colleagues, the college and collaborative leadership.

This year, participants will engage in an evidence-based leadership development program called “The Leadership Challenge,” based on the “Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership” model. Prior to the program, participants will complete a “leader development plan” and receive other program materials throughout. When you apply for SLCC’s President’s Leadership Institute, you will:

  • Develop leadership skills by understanding & assessing your leadership philosophy
  • Participate in “Leader Labs” to actively engage with concepts and receive feedback from your peers
  • Integrate service and hands-on learning in our surrounding communities
  • Learn about inclusive leadership and think deeply about equity minded principles
  • Receive support for success in the program

Application Process

Please stay tuned for more information regarding the PLI coming soon!

Application requirements

For this program, unfortunately, we have limited space available. Our goal is to allow for those College employees who have not participated in the past a chance to experience PLI. We will be reaching out to past PLI Alumni to help us with various sessions called “Leader Labs”. During the labs, you will be able to participate in providing feedback to participants on their leadership skill development, scenarios, and sharing your leader practices. If you are interested in assisting with those sessions, please email

A committee will review and select the applicants based on their applications.

We ask that you make your best effort to attend all 9 modules and the graduation celebration. Modules #2 & 3 are required! If you feel you will miss more than one session or need to miss several hours of any module, please apply for next year’s PLI. Please email with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your attendance.

No, it will be provided to all PLI participants along with other relevant materials.
