Projects with Industry conforms to the policy of assessment defined by Academic Student Learning Outcomes (ASLO), which are used as a guide to shape course content so that each student is best served.
- Acquire substantive knowledge in the discipline of their choice sufficient for further study, and/or demonstrate competencies required by employers to be hired and succeed in the workplace.
- Communicate effectively.
- Develop quantitative literacies necessary for their chosen field of study.
- Think Critically.
- Develop the knowledge and skills to be civically engaged, and/or to work with others in a professional and constructive manner.
Results of these assessments are reviewed quarterly by the program director, lab coaches, and the Business Advisory Council to improve teaching and learning. If we find that students do not do well in a specific area, as measured by a written exam or through a hands-on practical exam, we supplement the teaching methods in that area. We often expand labs, use supplemental textbooks, add additional workshops, etc. For those students that finish the program, 85% pass the industry standard certifications. For each program and each course, the ASLO requirements are defined as well as the associated competencies and means of assessment.
