Continuing Student Scholarships

Continuing Student Scholarships are typically for those who are currently enrolled at SLCC, are transfer students, or are returning to college. We have over 80 scholarship opportunities at SLCC, but below you will find highlights of just a few. Pay close attention to when the applications are open for the semesters you’re interested in applying.

  • Spring Semester 2018:
    • September 15, 2017 – November 1, 2017
  • 2018-19 School Year:
    • November 15, 2017 – March 1, 2018
  • Summer 2018:
    • March 2, 2018 – April 15, 2018

Foundation Honors

Funded by the C. Scott & Dorothy E. Watkins Family Foundation, this one-year scholarship is awarded based on cumulative GPA (minimum 3.5), letter of recommendation, and the quality of the essays required for the general application. Students must be enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours) each semester to receive this scholarship. This scholarship covers tuition and basic student fees.

Continuing Student Tuition Waiver

This one-year tuition waiver is awarded to current SLCC students or transfer students who have completed a minimum of 9 college credit hours. Awarded are based on a weighted GPA that is calculated using your college cumulative GPA (minimum 3.5) & how many credits you have earned or transferred as of Fall 2017. Students must be enrolled at least 3/4 time (9 credit hours) each semester to receive this tuition waiver. Recipients must be a Utah or Permanent Resident who can prove legal presence. This tuition waiver only covers the cost of tuition. Student and course fees will be the responsibility of the student.

Bruin Dreams

The Bruin Dreams Scholarship is a private scholarship made possible by generous donations from Salt Lake Community College faculty, staff, students, and community members around the greater Salt Lake area who are dedicated to the educational success of students who are undocumented. These need-based awards will be made to those enrolled in a credit-hour program who have demonstrated resiliency and innovation in their pursuit of a higher education degree. Six to twelve awards will be given out to a group of selected students, with awards ranging from $400 to $800 based on credit load.
Although not required, we recommend all eligible applicants also submit an HB 144 "Utah Exemption from Non-Resident Tuition Request" application.

FJM Impact

The FJM Impact Fund scholarship was designed to support SLCC students who want to improve and better their lives and careers. FJ Management believes that everyone should have the opportunity to attend school without incurring too much of a financial burden. All associate's-degree seeking students are encouraged to apply (including employees from FJ Management, Big West Oil, Maverik, Crystal Inns and TAB Bank). Students must be enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours) each semester to receive this scholarship. Applicants must also agree to meet with an academic advisor to create a degree plan leading to completion of a credit-bearing associate's degree program at SLCC. Continuing SLCC students must have a 3.0 GPA to be considered, while incoming freshman will be required to have at minimum 3.5 GPA from high school. Students must also complete the FAFSA to be considered. This scholarship covers tuition and basic student fees.

Pepsi Generation Excellence Cash Award

This one-semester scholarship is awarded to current SLCC students or transfer students who have completed a minimum of 12 college credit hours or 25% of an SAT program. This scholarship may only be received once during your enrollment at SLCC. If you are not selected, you may submit a new application for each semester. These awards range between $300 and $500 based on credit load.
