Medical Assistant (TEMA)

The Medical Assistant Program provides you with the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of a medical assistant and prepares you to complete a national certification exam. Medical assistants work primarily in doctors’ offices and other care clinics as a key member of the allied healthcare team.

You receive training in both the administrative and clinical areas of medical assistance so you can work to keep the offices and clinics of numerous health professionals running smoothly under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties you may perform include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties you may perform include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed. Our curriculum helps students gain competency in cognitive, psychomotor and affective competencies.
