School of Science, Mathematics and Engineering
There is a single light of science, and to brighten it anywhere is to brighten it everywhere.

Well, it has finally arrived!!!
The Second Annual Schoolof Science, Mathematics and Engineering (SME) Symposium is here. All of our student participants have been working ontheir various scientific experiments and projects to share with us on TUESDAY, APRIL 8th. We are anticipating an exciting day filled with creative ideas, two exceptional guest speakers, and of course, there are the awards for those students who displayed excellent scientific communicationskills.
We hope that you will come join us for what promises to be both an educational and entertaining day of events. Our day will begin at 9:30 am as our Symposium participants register and set up for the judges, visitors and guests who will be viewing their work. After the morning presentations are complete, we will hear about real world applications of science and engineering in aeronautics with our guest from NASA.
After lunch we will continue learning, laughing and exploring the work of scientists and engineers that affects the quality of our lives. As the day is nearing its end, our participants and their guests, along with the SME faculty will enjoy dinner, our second guest speaker of the day and, of course, our awards ceremony! For our dinner presentation we are showcasing our own Dean of the School of SME, Dr. Clifton Sanders. To add to the importance of the Symposium, Dr. Chris Picard, Provost of SLCC will hand out the awards to our students. By night’s end, everyone will probably be tired but it will have been a wonderful opportunity for all.
Thanks to our supportive sponsors, this year the participants can look forward to receiving tablet PCs and gift certificates to recognize and celebrate outstanding work done at this year’s Symposium.
Come join us for this unique and important event here at SLCC.
We look forward to seeing you there!
