Congratulations, SLCC Softball!

SLCC advances to Region 18 championship game, falls to CSI.

Congratulations to the 2008 Salt Lake Community College Softball team for one of the best years in school history. SLCC came up one game short of advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament, losing in the rubber match against rival College of Southern Idaho.  With the victory over SLCC, CSI wins the Region 18 softball tournament and earns a trip to the NJCAA tournament May 15-17 in Plant City, Fla.

The Salt Lake Community College softball team fought hard and played well, eliminating the College of Southern Nevada 4-2 on Saturday to earn a spot in the championship round. SLCC then beat CSI 11-4 in the first game. In the winner-take-all second title game, SLCC ran out of gas, losing to a tough CSI squad.

SLCC players named to Region 18 All Region and All Tournament Teams.

The Scenic West Athletic Conference announces the All Region 1st and 2nd team selections along with the Pitcher, Player and Coach of the Year for the 2008 season. MaryKay Amicone was named the Coach of the Year for Salt Lake Community College. SLCC’s Lindsey Palmer was named Pitcher of the Year and SLCC centerfielder Tara Bendt was name Player of the Year.

Lindsey Palmer, Brooke Olson, Jasey Jensen, and Tara Bendt were all named to the SWAC first-team. Dani Ibrahim was named to the second-team.

In addition to their regular season awards, Salt Lake Community College's Lindsey Palmer, Brooke Olson, Tara Bendt and Jasey Jensen were all selected to the 2008 SWAC All-tournament team in recognition of their outstanding play.
