Conference Volunteers Needed October 18-22 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City—Salt Lake Community College is co-hosting the League for Innovation’s Annual Conference on Information Technology (CIT). Volunteers needed to fill 4 to 6 hour shifts in the areas of registration, hospitality, speaker and audio visual support. Youth Gardens Celebration September 6, 9:00 to 11:30 am—Be part of an interdenominational and community celebration of service at the Cottonwood Presbyterian Church (1580 E. Vine Street, SLC). Offer Homework Help The U.S. Dream Academy provides after-school academic support and mentoring to children who have a parent, sibling, or grandparent in prison. The academy currently needs volunteers to help elementary-school children with homework, especially in areas of reading, math and Spanish. Contact Kristina at 801-973-9494.
Help with Sports, Computer and After-School Programs Sorenson Multi-Cultural Center needs volunteers year-round to help youth in a number of areas. Support them with sports. Body Worlds 3 Exhibit runs from September 19, 2008, through January 11, 2009—The Leonardo invites you to volunteer with Body Worlds 3, an exhibit featuring over 200 authentic human specimens. Enthusiastic volunteers needed to help in many areas, from special events and ticket taking, to staffing the information desk and guiding school groups. Training provided. The Golden Games September 5, 8 am to 3 pm—Association of People Helping People, Inc. seeks 75 volunteers to assist with The Golden Games at the South Town Expo in Sandy. Volunteers will help with registration, opening/closing ceremonies, scoring, set up and take down. Volunteers especially needed from 8 am to 12:30 pm. Weekend Volunteers Needed Groups needed to provide and prepare meals for 35 guests staying at the Ronald McDonald House. The house serves as a home away from home for families of seriously-ill children receiving health care from area hospitals. Disaster Relief and Education Help deliver relief to disaster victims or teach others how to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Volunteers needed to be first aid instructors, serve on disaster action and client outreach teams, or serve in leadership and management roles. Concert Volunteers Red Butte Garden seeks 2-3 energetic, hard-working people to join its outdoor concert series team. Speaking of Women’s Health Conference KUED-Channel 7’s annual Speaking of Women’s Health Conference takes place on Saturday, September 13. Utah Youth Service Marathon September 13, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm—Help with the kick-off event for the Utah Youth Service Marathon at the Utah State Capitol.
