Grand Theatre Foundation and Community Institute

The Grand Theatre Foundation

The Grand Theatre foundation produces quality community theater/performing arts events, educational outreach programs and cooperative partnerships that enrich the community through the performing arts and the humanities.

The Grand Theater Institute

The Grand Theatre Community Institute (GTCI) has developed a series of programs that will reach a diverse audience. These include: Lecture / Symposium/Exhibit Program, and Community Partnership Program.

In the past our Exhibit program included a public reading of the Declaration of Independence in association with 1776 (2002), a local artist exhibit with Our Town (2003), an extensive Quilt Symposium /Exhibit in conjunction with our production of Quilters (2003)and a variety of organizations including the Deseret Foundation. In conjunction with our production of Mornings at Seven (2004) we developed a partnership with Salt Lake County Aging Services and other community organizations to create an extensive series of lectures and special events that celebrate senior lifestyles. Most recently we presented the Utah Arts Council’s art exhibit Religions of the World in conjunction with our production of Godspell. In addition we presented a series of lectures which focused on various religions and concept of religious tolerance.

Community Partnerships

GTCI is committed to the development of cooperative community partnerships that enrich the community through affordable performing arts and special programs.  This year we partnered with the Kennedy Center’s Imagination Celebration (KCIC) of SaltLake City in presenting the Kennedy Center’s touring production of Tom Sawyer. In December 2004 we produced the 3rd Annual Community Celebration of Handel’s Messiah: Fused with the Energy of Gospel, with the combined choirs of Salt Lake Community College, the Odyssey Chorale and the Community Gospel Choir.
