“The purpose of Veterans Upward Bound is: to academically help veteran’s transition into post-secondary education, FREE of charge.  VUB has assisted several thousand veterans in reaching their academic goals. “

Services available through VUB at SLCC include tutoring in Math, English and Computer Science classes, career counseling and advisement and referrals to other agencies. Veterans must meet program eligibility requirements.

Department Workforce Services

The mission statement of the Department of Workforce Services- Veterans Services is: ”We provide employment and support services for our customers to improve their economic opportunities.”  Services are provided FREE of charge.

Services available through DWS at SLCC is employment counseling, assistance applying for federal jobs, job development for disabled vets, assistance with employment training, job search, resume writing, assistance transitioning to civilian life and referrals to appropriate federal agencies.

Employment Representatives are available on Redwood Road Campus,

Mondays 8:30 am -2:30 pm and again Thursdays 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm.  Contact the VA office at the Redwood Campus to set-up an appointment.



VA Work Study Positions

To qualify you must be:

• Title 38 USC, Chapters 30, 31, 32, or 35

• Title 10 USC,  Chapter 1606 or 1607

• Must be attending school and receive benefits at ¾ time or more

Duties include general clerical duties in the SLCC VA Office, STC 272.  Pay is minimum wage- tax free.  Maximum hours you can work are 25 per week with pay at every 50 hours.  Contact the VA office for an application and interview. 957-4289
