Each spring the Visual Art & Design Department is proud to host its annual Student Art Showcase. The show features outstanding art works of talented student artists at Salt Lake Community College. The exhibit features a variety of artwork completed during the current school year including fine art, illustration, photography, graphic design, web design, animation, mixed media, and 3-D design. The Art Showcase is open to all currently enrolled SLCC students. Submissions are juried by members of the SLCC Visual Art & Design faculty and judged by qualified members of the art community

bullet2014 SLCC Student Art Showcase Poster Design Contest February 4 to 19
The Visual Art & Design Department invites Salt Lake Community College students to
participate in a poster design contest announcing the 2014 SLCC Student Art Showcase.

bulletArt Showcase Submissions Start March 3rd and end March 26th at 11:59 PM 

2014 ART Showcase Submission Website. You will find complete submission instructions there. The first step to submitting your work to the art showcase is to take a digital photo of your work and submit it on line at the Art Showcase submission site. Complete instructions and rules  for submitting are also located there. Once you submit your artwork, you will be notified shortly as to acceptance of the work into the show. If your work is accepted, you must then take your actual art piece to the Commons Area of the Center for New Media at South City Campus. The times for physical submissions are listed below. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOUR ARTWORK COULD BE JURRIED OUT AT THE PHYSICAL SUBMISSION STAGE. NOT ALL PHYSICAL SUBMISSIONS WILL BE DISPLAYED IN THE ART SHOWCASE.

bulletFraming and Matting Workshop 1 • Mar. 20th,  11:00 AM -12:20 PM • South City, 3-167 

Learn how to mat, frame and properly prepare your artwork for hanging in the Art Showcase.
The following presentation and display standards will be discussed:

•Flat pieces should be securely mounted, over-matted, or framed.

•All hanging submissions must have a secure means to attach to the display wall (tape is not acceptable).

•Three-dimensional works should stand securely.

•Animation and Multimedia works should be at broadcast resolution, burned to a CD or DVD.

SLCC will not be held responsible for artwork that is damaged due to improper mounting or framing, or is unstable. Entries not meeting SLCC’s Art Show presentation standards may be declined and asked to be resubmitted with compliance.

After the final pick-up date, any unclaimed artwork and awards will become the property of the
SLCC Visual Art & Design Dept.
