Welcome Days

Welcome Days events engage and connect new and returning students to each other and to campus! This is an annual SLCC tradition that inspires a sense of belonging and Bruin pride. Take part in these fun, informative and supportive activities and programs - find your place, make friends and share in the true SLCC Bruin experience!

Free food and prizes - all students are invited to attend.


New Student QuickStop

Have questions? Lost? Need help? QuickStop is focused on any of your immediate needs (i.e. registration) and for issues that can be addressed in a short amount of time. No appointment necessary. Convenient locations & hours available at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus for any of your last minute, quick questions, needs and assistance in getting started here successfully. You may be asked to schedule an appointment for more detailed planning.

Topics for QuickStop Advising:

  • Questions about placement test scores and appropriate classes
  • MySLCC assistance
  • Adding/Dropping/Withdrawing from Courses
  • Review of Course Schedule
  • Referral to College Resources & Services

  • August 14 - August 25 - Taylorsville Redwood Campus, Student Center building, 2nd Floor, Open Computer Lab
    • Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
    • Fridays, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • August 23, 24 & 25 - Taylorsville Redwood Campus, "Hut" - outside, in front of the Student Center building (next to the bruin bear)
    • August 23 & 24, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
    • August 25, 7:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

New Student Kickoff!

August 16, 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

No longer taking pre-registrants, however, walk-ins are welcome.

SLCC welcomes new students and your families to the College. The New Student Kickoff gives new students a vital opportunity to learn about SLCC and is designed to empower students with the knowledge and tools needed in order to begin your courses here smoothly. Meet other students, connect with faculty and staff, learn about campus services, resources and student perks and discover opportunities to get involved outside the classroom. You'll have the opportunity to attend college success breakout sessions to help you transition to college life. A fun and valuable event that will help you make the most of your first year and kickoff your college experience!

At the New Student Kickoff, you'll get to:

  • Connect with SLCC faculty, staff and other new students
  • Attend educational workshops on Financing your College Career, Finding Jobs on Campus, and resources in exploring and identifying a Major & Career.
  • Discover the services, resources and perks available to you as an SLCC Bruin!
  • Get helpful tips & hints from faculty and current students to ensure your college success
  • Receive your Student ID Card (OneCard)

Community Engagement Fairs

Learn how you can make a difference and get involved on and off campus. The Thayne Center for Service & Learning Community Engagement Fair is a showcase of community partners including schools, non-profits and government agencies. Find volunteer and service opportunities, internships and potential jobs.

  • August 24, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - South City Campus
  • August 29, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Taylorsville Redwood Campus

Bruin Bash

An activity-filled welcome back event for SLCC students, staff, faculty and community members. Bring your family and friends to enjoy a night of entertainment, food and fun.

  • August 31, 5 p.m. - midnight - Taylorsville Redwood Campus, Student Event Center, west patio, south lawn and amphitheater

Stop by the Resource Fairs to learn all about the resources, services and perks available to you as an SLCC Bruin! Many academic departments, programs and college resources will be gathered in one place to help you get connected to campus.

  • September 6, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - West Valley Center
  • September 7, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Taylorsville Redwood Campus
  • September 12, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Jordan Campus
  • September 13, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - South City Campus

Club Rush

Find your niche at Club Rush! Check out the dozens of student clubs on campus and explore new interests from A to Z. Discover the many options available to help you enhance your college experience beyond the classroom.

  • September 12, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Jordan Campus, outside between the HTC and JHS (inside the HTC if bad weather)
  • September 13, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - South City Campus, outside on the East Entrance (inside East Entrance and Student Forum if bad weather)
  • September 14, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Taylorsville Redwood Campus, West patio and on the lawn west of the Student Center (Student Event Center and 1st floor west hallway of Student Center if bad weather)
