Vehicle Applied Emissions
Anyone wanting to be a certified emissions inspector in Salt Lake County must complete a 24-hour training class approved by the Salt Lake County Health Department and offered only by Salt Lake Community College. SLCC’s Applied Vehicle Emissions course is a hybrid with online components along with a two-hour lab or practicum offered at the Miller campus.
Emissions recertification is a two-hour online course approved by Salt Lake County Health and offered only by Salt Lake Community College.
If computer access is needed, learners may use the Miller campus computer lab during operating hours.
The Salt Lake County Health Department requires everyone wanting to be a certified Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) emissions inspector in Salt Lake County to complete this 22-hour training class offered only by Salt Lake Community College. SLCC’s Applied Vehicle Emissions course includes an online component along with a required two-hour in-person lab held on the Miller Campus in Sandy. As a result of this course students will be able to explain the impact of air pollution and its automotive sources; how federal and local government regulate air quality; explain the Salt Lake County Emissions Program, its rules, and requirements; and the roles and responsibilities of I/M technicians and stations.
Salt Lake County Health Department requires everyone wanting to renew their emissions technician certification to complete this 2-hour self-paced online training class offered only by Salt Lake Community College. As a result of this course, students will be able to explain the impact of air pollution and its automotive sources and how federal and local government regulate air quality.
