Rail Technician

The Rail technician program focuses on the manufacture of high-tech and lightweight commuter trains and offers courses in both mechanical fabrication as well as electrical fabrication of commuter trains.

Both courses in the Rail Technician Program are offered as hybrid on-line and in-person with choices of morning or afternoon in-person lab sessions. See the courses tab for more detail.

Partners
SLCC has partnered with Stadler Rail to help create programs that will help grow the rail manufacture industry right here in Utah. Students who participate in this program will often take classes right along side Stadler employees.
Investments
Whether you choose the mechanical or electrical technician courses you will spend time learning on-line and participating in hands-on real-world projects in our rail technician lab. The mechanical course is a total of 50 hours and the electrical a total of 80 hours. There are also scholarships and other incentives available for these courses that could pay for up to the entire tuition keeping you debt-free and ready to start your career.
