Refugee Technology Training

All courses are taught at the Utah Refugee Education and Training Center, 3900 South 250 West, Salt Lake City. The eligibility process requires participation in an interview to assess English proficiency. Space is limited to 10 participants per cohort. Cohorts remain together through completion of all three required classes. No cost to eligible participants.

basic technology training: 

SLCC Workforce Training & Continuing Education has partnered with Utah Department of Workforce Services to provide BASIC TECHNOLOGY TRAINING through the federal TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) grant. This grant is specific to Utah refugees and will be utilized to assist the employed, unemployed and underemployed gain valuable training to be more competitive in the workforce.

computer-aided design (cad) training: 

AutoCAD software creates computer-aided design and documentation. CAD programs can help you explore design ideas, visualize concepts through realistic rendering and simulate how a design will perform in the real world. 

web development and web design training: 

This course covers the fundamentals of HTML, CSS/Website Responsive Design, JavaScript, and PHP/MYSQL. The course includes a capstone project that enables students to utilize the skills gained throughout the course and build their personal portfolios. Students will showcase their website project with classmates and learn resume-building and interview tips specific to the industry. An internship at the end of the course will enable students to apply the skills gained through the website development and design courses by completing a real-world project with a local business partner, developing a personal portfolio, and preparing them for employment in the industry.

Classes meet at the Meadowbrook Campus, Utah Refugee Education & Training Center located at 3900 South 250 West, Salt Lake City.
All supplies will be provided for the class.
There is no cost for those who meet eligibility requirements.
No, anyone who meets the eligibiility requirements can enroll in classes and will be walked through the registration process.
