Thank you to our SLCC #GivingTuesdayNow donors!

Together, we did it! We are deeply grateful for the generosity and support for SLCC’s first #GivingTuesdayNow, a special global day of giving held on May 5th for 24 hours. SLCC dedicated this day to come together to bring hope to those who need it. Our goal was to raise $10,000 for the Salt Lake Community College Students in Crisis Fund and we exceeded that goal by raising $12,880.55.

Now more than ever before, our community continues to make a difference to our students in the extraordinary circumstances we all face. We are thankful for the strong support from our valuable community partners and our many SLCC friends and neighbors, including SLCC alumni, Board of Trustees, Alumni Leadership Council, Foundation Board, Planned Giving Advisory Council and our own faculty and staff.

SLCC’s #GivingTuesdayNow was a forerunner to SLCC’s inaugural Giving Day, to be held February 17, 2021, in celebration of National Random Acts of Kindness Day. SLCC Giving Day will be 1,948 minutes long, celebrating the year – 1948 – in which Salt Lake Community College was founded as Utah Technical College. We look forward to your participation in this foundational event.

Thank you for your commitment and continued support for SLCC’s Students in Crisis Fund!

#GivingTuesday is recognized as a global day of giving and usually takes place annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. This year, in the wake of the global threat of COVID-19 pandemic, a special #GivingTuesdayNow will take place on May 5, 2020.

We at Salt Lake Community College want our community to know we are taking action on this important day to increase awareness and create positive change for SLCC students.

The purpose of participating in a giving day is to bring new and established donors a special reason to engage with Salt Lake Community College. Those already involved with SLCC have another opportunity to show their support for our students.

Yes, SLCC is receiving money from the federal government through the CARES Act and a portion of that resource will be devoted to students who apply for crisis funding. However, some of our students will be prohibited from accessing CARES funds due to legislated parameters. Funds raised will help those who are ineligible, as well as helping to fill the gap between students who were financially impacted at the outset of COVID-19 and federal funds becoming available.
