Pharmacy technicians help pharmacists dispense prescription medications to patients and provide information to other health professionals. They greet patients, receive prescriptions, measure, label and package medication, prepare sterile iv solutions and assist patients with insurance billing. Technicians could work in community pharmacies, hospitals, home health agencies, clinics, insurance companies and higher education. Pharmacy technicians are needed where ever medications are used.

The ASHP/ACPE accredited pharmacy technician program at Salt Lake Community College provides the necessary training and externship experiences to prepare students to take a national pharmacy technician certification exam and to apply for state licensure with the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. (DOPL)

Our graduates are highly recruited for positions in a wide range of settings to fill the urgent pharmacy technician workforce needs in our community.
