Salt Lake Community College and Utah State Board of Education (USBE) are partnering to provide math courses required for middle school and special education licensed teachers seeking a Special Education Mathematics or Middle School Mathematics Endorsement. Participants will be able to finish their endorsement while attending classes specifically designed for middle school/special education teachers.
These five math courses meet the requirements of USBE for a Secondary SPED Math Endorsement OR a Middle School Math Endorsement
* Who should take these math classes?
- Utah state educators who are teaching in Utah schools who manage secondary special education students or who teach middle school math.
* What if I already have taken precalculus and/or calculus.
- There is no need to retake these classes if you already have them on a transcript. You may register for Math 2110, 2120, or 2130.
* Will architects or engineers be in these classes with me?
- No, these math classes are only open to Utah educators seeking an endorsement. The instruction is designed to be supportive of your teaching context while remaining rigorous, college-level learning.
* Do I need to be an SLCC student to register for these math classes?
- Yes, you must apply to SLCC as a new student following these steps: (Please put STEP 2 & 3 from APPEL Elementary here and the links)
- Apply to Salt Lake Community College following these steps
- Follow these directions to register for classes on MySLCC or through the College Scheduler
* I heard there is special tuition rates for these endorsements.
- You can register for any of these classes without paying tuition up front. SLCC will invoice USBE on your behalf once you have earned a “C” or better. If you do not earn a “C,” you will be responsible for the full cost of the course.
SLCC will invoice USBE for the cost of this training, so middle school and special education teachers can register for these classes without paying tuition up front.
