Secondary Teacher Transition to Teaching
Secondary Teacher Transition to Teaching
Program Overview
SLCC's Transition to Teaching program supports aspiring educators working toward their Professional Educator License (PEL) through the Alternative Pathway to Professional Educator Licensing (APPEL). Our USBE-approved, evening courses provide a practical path to licensure with a hybrid, live webinar approach that helps you build confidence in your teaching skills from your desk or from home.
This program is designed for individuals with a bachelor's degree who have already obtained an Associate Educator License (AEL) and pairs coursework with real-world teaching experience through an APPEL agreement with your employing school or district. This agreement will outline which courses you need to take to be eligible for licensure and is made with your school or district's APPEL director.
Funding opportunities may be available beginning July 1, 2026, and could cover 25%-50% of course costs.
If you have any additional questions, call Emily Huillet at 801-957-5423.
Registration for Fall Semester starts on July 1st.
