Secondary Teacher Transition to Teaching
Great News! Educators pursuing a Professional Educator License (PEL) through the Alternative Pathway to Professional Educator Licensing (APPEL) now have two training options at SLCC for 2025:
New 2025 APPEL Courses (not-for-credit, funding available, competency-based, MIDAS-tracked)*STIT funding may be available for some courses.
Old 2020 APPEL Courses (credit-based, available only through July 2026)
Yes, you may be able to mix and match Old 2020 APPEL Courses and New 2025 APPEL Courses. Check with your APPEL Licensing Director.
Important: If you are currently completing the old APPEL courses, you must finish them before July 2026. After that date, only the new courses will be available.
