ENGL 0990 - INTEGRATED READ & WRITE II

Credits: 3
Through numerous activities students will develop increased fluency in reading and writing in academic contexts. The course will create opportunities for students to become active participants in their own learning through methods designed to enhance students’ abilities to both read and write more effectively and strategically.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Attendance, Participation, and Homework:
    • It is important to attend at least 90% of class sessions.
    • On average, you are required to complete two hours of homework outside of class for every class credit. Some assignments may require more time, some less.
    • Participate in class discussions, activities, and collaborative tasks.
  • Assignments:
    • Complete between 3 - 5 main writing assignments.
    • Complete multiple reading, research, and writing assignments that contribute to main writing assignments.
    • Make substantive revisions on writing assignments.
    • Copy-edit all final revisions of main assignments.
  • Exams:
    • There are no exams in English composition courses.
    • Some sections have quizzes on readings or research.
    • In addition to the SLCC ePortfolio, many sections of English composition courses require the submission of final portfolio of your course work.
