Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is the largest higher education institution with the most diverse student body in Utah. The College serves more than 60,000 students in credit and non-credit courses at 13 locations throughout the Salt Lake Valley, including online class options. Even with its large student body, students don’t get lost in the ‘shuffle’ because SLCC’s student to faculty ratio is just 20 to 1. Since 1948, SLCC has focused on providing individual attention and personal care to each student.
Competitive tuition, financial aid, scholarships, academic and career advising, and programs focused on student success to give people ready access to the College.
SLCC is accredited through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). NWCCU is an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. This accreditation allows for most credits to be easily transferred from SLCC to 4-year colleges and universities.
SLCC adheres to a semester schedule and offers the following degrees:
- Associate of Arts (A.A.)
- Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.)
- Associte of Science (A.S.)
- Associate of Pre-Engineering (A.P.E.)
- Certificates and Diplomas
Open access, personalized attention, a range of programs and training opportunities, and quality educational services have made Salt Lake Community College the place for students to take their first step to higher education and the place for professionals to take the next step to advance their careers.
Community Partnerships
Salt Lake Community College continues to expand its role as the community's College. Partnerships with more than 500 business and school districts contribute both to the growth of Salt Lake Community College and provide the highly-skilled workforce necessary to strengthen Utah's economy.
The Larry H. Miller Entrepreneurship Training Center, located on the Miller Campus, was completed in fall 2001 through a partnership with the Larry H. Miller family. Other business partnership programs housed at the Miller Campus include: Utah's only ACT/WorkKeys Training and Testing Center; an extensive Automotive Training Center; the only CAD Applications Training Center in the Intermountain west; the College's small business incubator project; and a Women’s Business Institute .
The Science and Industry Building on the Taylorsville Redwood Campus was built in partnership with Union Pacific Railroad.
SLCC, in partnership with the Salt Lake School District Career and Technical Education Center, is renovating and expanding the South City campus to include a Center for New Media. 120,000 square feet of new and renovated classroom space will prepare graduates for occupations in Digital Media Design, Applied Technology, Communication Broadcasting, Animation, Visual and Art Design, Digital Technology, and Performing Arts. The Center for New Media is projected to open January 2013.
