This convergence resonates on Capitol Hill. The Utah
Legislature has appropriated funds exceeding $30 million for
a new building designed for the School of Arts &
Communication.

The Communication Department at SLCC is the best resource
for students to develop the verbal, written, and visual
skills necessary to effectively convey their message to the
world in an ever-changing environment.
The
Communication Department sponsors and directs a vibrant Globe Student Media Center
that provides valuable instruction and real-world, hands-on
experience in print journalism, radio, web, and television.
Globe Student Media creates
partnerships and brings students, community members, and
businesses together. Student produced media is made available
to the public through Valley Television
Channel 17, The Globe
Newspaper (print and online), Globe Radio, and Folio magazine.

The Visual Art & Design Department provides a variety
of disciplines in both traditional and digital media, each of
which are designed for every student to obtain the most
worthwhile personal and professional development in a growing
field.
The visual arts are art forms that focus on
the creation of works which are primarily visual in nature.
This includes art work, such as painting, photography, or
sculpture, that appeals primarily to the visual sense and
typically exists in permanent form.

The Performing Arts Department enables students to
discover and diversify their talents through an assortment of
platforms, in environments which encourage and celebrate
freedom of expression.
Performing arts include
dance, music, opera, drama and circus arts. Artists who
participate in performing arts in front of an audience are
called performers. This includes actors, songwriters,
comedians, dancers, musicians and singers.

Concurrent Enrollment plays a vital role in the School of Arts & Communication: "The Salt Lake Community College Concurrent Enrollment Program provides leadership in maintaining partnerships with secondary education institutions that offer high school students the opportunity to earn college credit and high school credit concurrently as they enroll in and complete college-level courses offered either at a Salt Lake Community College or approved high school campus."
